Ohio Congressman Zack Space presented the award to Ramsey Bader, Edgetech’s International Sales and Marketing Director, during the luncheon that was attended by more than 300 people from legislators and media to county and local leaders.
“Edgetech has achieved steady growth in both North America and our various international markets, which now account for nearly 30 percent of our sales,” Bader said. “We have focused heavily on expanding our efforts globally and now sell our flagship product Super Spacer® in more than 80 countries. It is a great honor to once again be recognized by the EODA for our exporting achievements and look forward to continued worldwide success, which ultimately translates to success for our region.”
This is Edgetech’s fourth EODA award. The company earned the Governor’s ‘Exporter of the Year’ Award in 2006, the Governor’s ‘Business Excellence’ Award in 2005 and the Governor’s ‘Excellence in Exporting’ Award in 2002. For more than 20 years, Edgetech’s Super Spacer warm edge spacer systems have contributed to the energy efficiency and sustainability of insulating glass (IG) windows worldwide in both residential and commercial applications. As energy-efficient products continue to drive the building industry, Edgetech has been on the leading edge of product development, innovation and education, providing value-added services to the global fenestration marketplace.
In 2007, after achieving nearly 300 percent sales growth in the region over a three-year period, Edgetech opened the first warm edge spacer manufacturing facility in the UK. The company also has sales offices throughout Europe and Asia.
“Continuous improvement initiatives have always been the backbone of Edgetech’s success,” said Mike Hovan, President of Edgetech I.G. “We have taken this innovative spirit and added resources in-house and overseas, facilitating growth of our company and contributing to the success of our region. We thank EODA for all of their efforts and for this great honor, especially U.S. Department of Commerce Director in Columbus, Ohio, Roberta Ford, who nominated us for this award and who has always been a great supporter.”
The EODA annual luncheon featured keynote speaker Lisa Patt-McDaniel, Ohio Department of Development Director, who discussed the key economic development issues relating to the EODA 16-county region and the State of Ohio. EODA’s mission is to stimulate economic growth and improve the quality of life in the region.
