The Science Olympiad is a national organization dedicated to improving science education by fostering a passion for science among students, creating links between private enterprise and schools, improving curriculum and providing recognition for scientific achievement.
The event at UD, which is a prelude to the Science Olympiad National Tournament in May 2002, featured 46 competitions in physics, chemistry, earth science, biology, mathematics and computer technology.
More than 80 DuPont employees served as judges, speakers and presenters at the tournament in Newark, Delaware. DuPont Chairman and CEO Chad Holliday spoke at the opening ceremonies and DuPont U.S. Region President Willie Martin and Randy Guschl of DuPont Center for Collaborative Research and Education presented medals to participants at the closing ceremony.
