The facility will serve the growing demand for silicone materials in China, India and Asia for a variety of industries, including construction, electronics, power and utility, solar and automotive.
The facility covers one million square meters. The $1.8 billion combined investment by Dow Corning and WACKER includes a jointly owned siloxane and pyrogenic silica plant, in addition to finished silicone production plants which are owned and operated independently by each company.
“The opening of this facility represents a key milestone in demonstrating Dow Corning’s commitment to meeting the needs of the rapidly expanding global construction market, particularly in China, one of the fastest growing in the world,” says Ron Filmore, vice president/construction industry for Dow Corning.
