Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) announced plans to collaborate with Krystal™ Glass Writing Boards on a new approach to traditional markerboard designs and configurations.

Industry leading Corning® Gorilla® Glass, known for its thin, durable, and scratch-resistant surface, is now delivering its unique qualities to the markerboard market.Gorilla Glass not only helps address the markerboard issue of ghosting or double imaging — often seen in thicker glass board products — but also provides mounting and installation cost savings, and expanded design options.

“Gorilla Glass is the ideal solution for solving issues end users have had with markerboards for years,” said Charlie Baker, chief executive officer of Krystal Glass Writing Boards. “Melamine and porcelain whiteboards are typically replaced every three to five years due to stains and damage issues. We have found that Gorilla Glass is stain-resistant and exceptionally durable, increasing the life span of boards versus those using traditional materials.  Additionally, Gorilla Glass brings new design and configuration options that have not previously been available to our market.”

“We believe these markets are looking for a new solution that can deliver improved functionality with an aesthetic appeal that is retained even with prolonged use,” said David Loeber, Corning Large Cover Glass business director. “Gorilla Glass retains its damage resistance despite its thin form factor and offers customers enhanced optical clarity over traditional glass markerboards for an improved viewing experience. Corning is pleased to work with Krystal to deliver these benefits to end users.”
