The Advanced-Flow™ LF is the company’s newest glass reactor product. It is a highly flexible, low-flow glass reactor that enables a cost-effective transition to higher-volume, continuous-flow chemical processing.
All Corning Advanced-Flow reactors have the ability to continuously and efficiently stream chemical reactants together with integrated heat exchange, thus bringing significant performance benefits to chemical manufacturing.
The chemical processing industry has increasing demand for more cost-effective, higher-purity, and more scalable methods for industrial-scale production of pharmaceutical and specialty chemical products. These needs are addressed through the continuous-flow technology of Corning’s Advanced-Flow glass reactors.
Highly engineered glass fluidic modules form the basis of the reactor, providing excellent mixing and heat exchange not possible in batch reactors used today. The modules are constructed into customized reactors that can be scaled up to industrial scale production banks, according to customer specifications.
“Corning’s new Advanced-Flow LF reactor, with low-flow capability, has all the mixing and heat exchange performance of our other glass reactors, but at a size suited to those requiring smaller-scale chemical process development,” said Sergio Pissavini, business director, Corning Reactor Technologies. “These benefits provide the chemical processing industry with high-performance, cost-effective continuous processing tools that are scalable to industrial levels not previously possible.”
