But in a small oasis – a separate, air-conditioned area – stands the insulating glass line of Bystronic glass group.

However, cooperation between Alumco and Bystronic glass group did not start with insulating glass production but with the former's interest in purchasing a line for the production of laminated safety glass. Owing to the high demand for glass in the market, the producer of aluminium windows had decided to become independent from suppliers and start its own glass processing. In 2006, Samer Barakat, Managing Partner of Alumco, and Haitham Al Khatib, head of the glass production of Alumco, purchased the first plant from Bystronic glass – a complete solution for laminated safety glass production.
"Bystronic glass could convince us with their presentation, the good advice and the well-known quality, and we therefore decided to purchase a compactlamiline and matching handling equipment from the company", Haitham Al Khatib recalls. At the glasstec in the same year, he used the opportunity to watch some Bystronic glass machines for laminated safety glass production in live operation and to accept "his" new machines at the Technology Center Bystronic Armatec.
Convinced of Bystronic glass machines
A year later, Alumco ordered additional handling devices from Bystronic glass and is still more than satisfied with all investments: "When we planned purchasing a new insulating glass production line and a cutting table, I did not have to think twice about which company would get the contract", Haitham Al Khatib said and added: "Bystronic glass offers high-quality machines combined with excellent service on site." He is convinced of the European quality and the high accuracy of the work: "Good machines also produce good glass and this gives us strength in the competition."

In addition, Alumco also attaches great importance to the personal contact with the machine manufacturer and a smoothly organised spare part business. He said that he had had very good experience with the friendly, helpful and very accurately working staff of Bystronic glass.
Royal league of glass production
In two shifts, the 120 employees of the Alumco glass division produce approximately 2,000 square metres of insulating glass and 1.000 square metres of laminated safety glass per day. In order to optimally utilise the existing machines, Alumco sells a part of the insulating glass and of the laminated safety glass to external companies. So far, the customers are mostly from the Middle East and the Gulf region. For example, the glass is installed in publicly used buildings like the motor racing stadium in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi that was newly opened in 2009 and on the racing track adjacent to which the final race of this year's Formula 1 season will take place. As Alumco can produce larger units for glass facades than its competitors, the company has quickly made a name for itself in the glass industry. Despite the global economic crisis, business is going well and Haitham Al Khatib can look positively to the future and to continued cooperation with Bystronic glass.
