Visitors to Vitrum this October should head for the Bostik Stand (Hall 13, Stand P07) where the company will be featuring its wide range of products for the insulating glass unit (IGU) industry.

Bostik marketing manager, Richard Sellman, has spent the last 24 years specialising in sealants for the IGU industry ensuring the company remains at the forefront of industry developments. He says: “Many customers are enjoying the benefits of Hot Melt Butyl, whilst the traditional two part sealant remains popular amongst many manufacturers.

“Both sealants can be applied manually or using robotic equipment meaning Bostik has a sealant solution for every IGU manufacturer, whatever their requirement. The full range of products will be featured on the stand at the show and Bostik representatives will be on hand to discuss individual enquiries.”

Bostik’s extensive in-house testing facility, the first UK dedicated testing facility for BS EN 1279 parts 2 and 3, enables the company to develop and rigorously test any new products and forms part of a continuous research and development programme.

Richard continues: “Not only can we offer a product for every sealant requirement, we also work closely with customers to share our technical expertise and offer assistance when required such as in the case of implementing BS EN 1279, switching from one sealant type to another, setting up new production lines or relocating manufacturing facilities.

“By offering outstanding levels of customer support we aim to reassure our customers that they are getting the best out of our products and are operating an efficient and effective production process.”

On the stand at Vitrum, Bostik will be featuring its complete range of IGU sealants comprising the Bostik 2000 Series, 3000 Series and 5000 Series.

Bostik 2000 Primary Sealant is a compounded polyisobutylene hot melt sealant specifically formulated for use in the production of dual seal insulating glass units. It is designed to be used in conjunction with a suitable secondary seal such as Bostik 3000 which is ideal for use with both fully robotic and direct gun / cartridge application equipment. A two-part polysulfide based sealant, when mixed in the correct proportions, Bostik 3000 cures to a flexible, resilient seal.

Bostik P5125 and Bostik 5000 are single part 100% solids compound sealants, specially developed for the edge sealing of factory produced insulating glass units and are the company’s leading products. Both products are Hot Melt Butyl IGU single part butyl rubber based sealants which set quickly from a molten state allowing units to be moved from their assembly location as little as two minutes after application. They demonstrate exceptional technical performance with only a single seal required to produce units that fully meet BS EN 1279 requirements.

Also featured on the stand at Vitrum will be the well-established Evo-Stik Hiflo, a single part butyl based hot melt edge sealant which has an excellent reputation in the IGU industry having been used by many of the UK’s manufacturers for many years.
