Date: 28 April 2014
It will be dedicated to Professor Stanislav Filatov from the Saint Petersburg State University to honor his achievements in Borate Crystallography.
The International Conference on PHOSPHATE GLASSES July 2 - 4, 2014 will cover all aspects of phosphate - and phosphate-containing glasses, including basic science, applications and technologies. A common session on July 2 on borophosphate glasses will form a bridge between the Borate and Phosphate conferences. Dr. Doris Ehrt from the Otto-Schott Institut, University of Jena (Germany) will be honored for her contribution to phosphate optical glasses..
The conference site, Poděbrady, is located about 50 km east of Prague on the Elbe River and it is known as a spa town. A small spa was already established there in the 17th century and its spring was considered to provide the best ferrous water. In 1905 a spring of mineral water was discovered when searching for drinking water in the courtyard of the castle. The first spa season began as the mineral water, with an excellent medical force in the carbonic spa, brought the predicted "golden age" of the town in 1908. Close to spa there is also the Bohemia glass factory which produces lead crystal glass. The town can easily be reached by train or bus from Prague in 50 min. Both conferences will take place in Poděbrady Castle.
