Beneq CEO Mr Sampo Ahonen received the award on Tuesday, May 4th, at the final seminar of Finland´s nanotech initiative FinNano.
Finland is one of the foremost countries in developing new nanotech-enabled applications. This enviable position has been achieved by unconditional and persistent work in many fields. FinNano, the Tekes-financed five-year national nanotechnology initiative, at its final seminar this week in Helsinki, acknowledged unique success stories in four different categories. Beneq was awarded for Best Business Potential. The three other laureates were Director Tapani Ryhänen (Nokia Research Center) for International Achievements, Prof. Esko Kauppinen (Aalto University) for Scientific Breakthrough and Academy Prof. Kari Rissanen (University of Jyväskylä) for Development of Finnish Nanosciences and Nanotechnology.
In the words of the prize committee (concerning Beneq):
“Beneq Oy is, internationally speaking, the most successful nanotechnology company in Finland. Beneq manufactures and develops industrial coating equipment and technologies for the needs of industry. Coating application areas are especially in the fields of solar energy, flat glass, medical, printed and flexible electronics, and lighting solutions.
