Bendheim introduces Crown Bullion Glass to help achieve historically accurate restorations or recreate the look and feel of authentic traditional architecture.Crown Bullion Glass, also known as Crown Glass or Bullseye Glass, is perfect for detailing doors, sidelites, transoms, windows, and cabinetry. It can also be used to glaze entire openings and partitions to bring a period-sensitive elegance and daylight while obscuring views and offering privacy.

Bendheim Crown Bullion Glass

Crown Bullion Glass displays subtle concentric rings emanating from an ornamental bullseye center. The distinct features result from the authentic production techniques and tools, used as early as the 7th century to make this mouth-blown glass. Bendheim’s genuine Crown Bullion Glass is crafted by the skilled glass masters of Germany’s Glashütte Lamberts. The factory has rediscovered the mouth-blown production methods necessary to guarantee the historic accuracy of this glass.

The Crown Bullion Glass production process begins with a gather (a ball) of semi-molten glass on the end of a blowpipe, which is gradually blown and opened outwards like a "crown." It is then transferred from the blowpipe to a pontil, or "punty" iron rod, opened and flattened through reheating and spinning it rapidly. The outer parts of the disc are trimmed, and the remaining ornamental bullseye center becomes a decorative element for windows, doors, sidelites, and transoms. A short video demonstrating the Crown Glass production process is available at www.restorationglass.com/restoration-glass-production.cfm. The unmistakable handmade quality of Lamberts® Crown Bullion Glass, its original production methods, consistency, and delicate beauty make it a refined choice for historic restoration and detailing of traditional buildings and furniture.

Crown Bullion Glass complements Bendheim’s selection of “new antique” window glass and mirror, including Light Restoration Glass®, Full Restoration Glass®, and Restoration Mirror™, all of which are imported exclusively by Bendheim in North America and available at www.restorationglass.com. The recently revamped website is the most comprehensive source for high-quality, authentic mouth-blown window glass in North America, and features enhanced design and navigation, streamlined purchasing process, and detailed installation instructions. A video demonstration with Martha Stewart illustrates the authentic nature of the glass and its application for antique window restoration.
