I recently bought a patio table made of tempered glass.
I live in a NYC suburb where the wind chill in the winter can reach 0 degrees; is it alright for me to leave my table outdoors or will it break due to the extreme cold weather?
Thanks
The temperature isn't so much a problem; it's the rate of temperature change and microflaws that cause spontaneous stress breakage in glass that's not properly tempered. In fact, it's problems with the heat-cool cycle and uncontrolled residual stress in manufacturing that cause heat-treated glass to fail. (BTW, chill factors only apply to flesh, not inanimate objects.)
Hi,
Well ,atleast one thing is figured out that our glass aint gonna break.
Here i would like to add a little detail about the toughened glass. It can take upto 250 degrees of temperature differential i.e. the difference between any two points on the surface of glass. So dont worry.
Safety glass will be glass that has been handled by controlled warm or substance medications to expand its quality contrasted and typical glass. The treated glass is made of forms which make adjusted inner anxieties which give the glass quality. It will normally break into little sections rather than sharp shards when broken, make it more averse to cause serious damage and profound slashes. Because of its wellbeing and quality, treated glass is utilized as a part of an assortment of requesting applications, including traveler vehicle windows, glass entryways, and tables, cooler plate, as a segment of impenetrable glass, for jumping veils, and different kinds of plates and cookware.
yes.. no problem at all.
Just like the windows in homes survive winter, you shouldnt have any problem with those temperatures.
I live in a part of Canada where it easily reaches windchills of -40 celcius in the winter.
