Article: A Novel Glass Spacer for Vacuum Insulated Glazing
Hi
On page 9 of above referenced article the ultimate strength of spacers is called out as 8-10 GPa for 'as received glass', 6-7 GPa 'after annealing of glass' and 1-2 GPa for stainless steel spacer. My understanding is that the ultimate compressive strength of glass is some 1000 MPa = 145,000 psi if no tension is induced. Are not the values of 2 to 10 GPa then completely irrelevant? Could anyone explain?
