From September 12-14, 2012, North America’s industry leaders in glass and glazing gathered together in Las Vegas, Nevada at the GlassBuild America Convention.

Nearly 6,700 attendees visited the expo to network, create business opportunities, introduce new products and be educated on the latest industry trends.YKK AP America was proud to participate in this event by supporting the 7th Annual Glazing Executives Forum (GEF) where over 200 industry leaders gathered to expand their knowledge.  During the GEF, Oliver Stepe, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for YKK AP, was part of a panel of industry experts that addressed serious issues facing our industry and offered solutions and advice to business owners to help their businesses succeed.Among a variety of topics, one topic was of key interest to the attendees – training new employees.  On this topic Stepe offered the following comments “More and more, we are hiring new people from outside of the industry, and they're asking us, 'what are you doing to train?‘ YKK AP developed several training programs that it utilizes when necessary, including a basic product training, one week manufacturing training, a quick start program to prepare new employees for customer service within 90 days, and career development training.”

After the Glazing Executives Forum, YKK AP hosted a hospitality event “Chillin’ with YKK AP” at a unique Vegas venue, the minus 5° ice lounge. The event was well attended by several of YKK AP’s valued customers as well as key business partners and industry press.  At the event, YKK AP unveiled its new expansion to its most popular storefront system, YES 45 TU (Front Set), and reinforced the purpose of its enerGfacade family of products which is to minimize heat loss and improve thermal performance.

“The event allowed us to relax, “chill-out”, and build deeper relationships with our business associates as we created a lasting memory at this memorable venue” said Mike Turner, Vice President of Marketing.  “We thank all those in attendance and look forward to continued success in the future”.
