Date: 23 July 2014
This is the first GANA Fall Conference to be held in Canada.
One of the sponsors is Walker Glass Co., Ltd. Through seven decades, Walker Glass has grown, evolved and constantly adapted to an ever-changing business environment. What began as one entrepreneur's modest enterprise has grown into a North American market leader in decorative glazing substrates. While many things have changed over the decades, the most important things have remained constant. Adherence to their mission and remaining true to their core values are the trusted foundations of the Walker Glass of yesterday, today and the decades to come.
"Walker Glass Company has been a huge supporter of GANA efforts for years. This financial commitment is testament to Walker's significant support of GANA moving forward," says William Yanek, Executive Vice President of GANA.
Walker Glass will be sponsoring Wednesday's lunch and speaker at the GANA Fall Conference. The speaker will be Michael Mesure with FLAP Canada. Every year an estimated 100 million to 1 billion birds die by flying into glass windows. Michael Mesure is the Founder and Executive Director for the Fatal Light Awareness Program (FLAP), the first organization in the world to address the issue of birds colliding with buildings. Through innovative research, FLAP provides resources and guidelines for architects, engineers building owners and managers to minimize bird-building collisions.
"We are very excited to support the first ever GANA event on Canadian soil and we believe it will draw significant interest from all members," said Marc Deschamps, Business Development Manager, Walker Glass Co., Ltd. "We are also proud to sponsor the presentation on Bird Friendly Glazing. You do not want miss Michael Mesure's comprehensive and shocking view of the risk that building design can present to birds."
