Viridor Employees Complete First Glass Specific IOSH Managing Safely Course

Date: 31 October 2014

This month, employees from Viridor were presented with IOSH (Institute of Safety and Health) certificates by British Glass for successfully completing the first bespoke glass industry Managing Safely course.

Viridor is one of the UK’s leading recyclers of container, flat and specialist glass. With glass recycling processing plants across the country, they manage all aspects of glass recycling.

As a key part of the glass industry supply chain, Viridor’s employees are required to meet the health and safety standards of the industry. Five employees took the course in June and were this month awarded their certificates by British Glass’ Health and Safety Manager, Phil Marsh.

The employees were a combination of maintenance engineers and shift supervisors, with the IOSH Managing Safely course bringing the managers up to speed on the practical actions they need to take to handle health and safety in their teams. The course has been developed specifically by British Glass and The Glass Academy in conjunction with glass manufacturers and Health & Safety professionals, providing insight, knowledge and images to assist with the creation of the course materials and tailoring the content to the specific needs of workers in the glass industry and its supply chain.

Congratulations to the employees at Viridor. For further information, or to pre-book a course, please contact Mike Wilkins by emailing: mike@theglassacademy.org
