Vidrios Lirquén, the NSG Group's float glass joint venture in Chile, has resumed production and has reaffirmed its commitment to the Chilean market.

The Vidrios Lirquén float tank in the Concepción region of Chile has resumed production just over 12 months after being put out of action by the earthquake which struck the region in February 2010. Vidrios Lirquén is jointly-owned by the NSG Group, Saint Gobain and Inversiones Pathfinder.

During the rebuild, which was completed in record time, Vidrios Lirquén was able to organize the appropriate logistics to continue to supply the Chilean market from the other manufacturing sites of its shareholders.

The company was also able to maintain its 280-strong workforce, who were relocated to other areas during the stoppage.

The re-start means that the Company's customers in the area can once again take advantage of our full product range from our local production facility.
