A “STUNNING” glass plaque designed by Midland glass craftsman George Woodall will be auctioned tomorrow – and is expected to fetch up to £30,000.
The 19th century cameo glass plaque, designed by the man hailed as the ‘Rembrandt of Glass’, will be the star lot at tomorrow’s Five Centuries of Glass auction at Stourbridge-based Fieldings auctioneers.
The plaque, one of only three cameos of mythical Greek princess Andromeda, was part of a collection left by the late John Sanders, a local solicitor who was a keen glass enthusiast.
Auctioneer Nick Davies, of Fieldings, said: “This plaque is stunning. It is incredibly rare – it’s not particularly big, but it’s beautiful, of great quality.
