BIM enables architects, consultants, contractors, facilities and project managers to have access to comprehensive information about a building’s components and over the complete life cycle of a project – from its design, construction, operation and maintenance through to dismantling and recycling. The Government aims to reduce the cost of construction work by up to 20 per cent by the end of the current parliament and ministers have committed to increase innovation, improve skills, and reduce costs and carbon emissions. In a bid to meet these targets, a deadline of 2016 has been set for the implementation of BIM across public sector construction.
The range of Technal’s façade, window and door systems is now available on BIMstore’s website, allowing specifiers to search and download the glazing components for free, to use in their own BIM modelling.
Commenting on this latest initiative, Jon Palethorpe, Director for Technal, said, “BIM has the potential to radically change the face of the construction industry, helping to increase efficiency and reduce time.”
“As a business, we are committed to working in partnership with architects and contractors, and we are keen to be at the forefront of the use of BIM. By making our glazing systems readily available on the BIM database, we are providing the industry with a wealth of product information for use at the earliest stage in the building design process.”
The Technal BIM components are fully compatible with Autodesk Revit 2013 and later editions, and are now available to download for the following façade systems:
GEODE-MX curtain walling – Visible Grid, Trame Horizontale and Verticale, acoustic, sloped and structural mechanical glazing, and MX62 for larger spans SOLEAL and CD commercial door systems SOLEAL 65 window system MODAL low rise glazing FXi65 casement window suite.
