Company’s Cost-Efficient, Reliable and Scalable CPV Technology Hits Key Milestones for Certification, Deployment and Intellectual PropertySkyline Solar TM announced today that it has received IEC 62688 certification for its X14 CPV System.

With the IEC 62688 certification, Skyline Solar expects the Skyline X14 System will be California Energy Commission (CEC) listed before the end of November 2011. CEC listing makes the Skyline X14 System eligible for California performance based incentives (PBI). The listing will drive faster adoption of Skyline Solar’s cost-efficient and field-proven concentrating photovoltaic (CPV) system. Skyline received the IEC 62688 from TUV SUD America.

The company also participated in the ground breaking ceremony on October 7 for a 500 kilowatt (kW) Skyline X14 CPV System in Durango, Mexico. Durango Governor Jorge Herrera Caldera christened the first arrays of the new system in front of a crowd of 250 spectators. The event was hosted by Del Sol Systems, the project developer. The system is expected to be the largest CPV plant in Latin America.

"With the recent IEC 62688 certification and imminent CEC listing, an increasing patent portfolio, and the ground-breaking of the first municipal-scale X14 project, we are delivering on our promise of a low-cost, reliable and scalable CPV solution," said Tom Rohrs, CEO of Skyline Solar. "Our system is seeing increased traction because of its performance in sunny climates, field-upgradability, and high project investment returns afforded to our customers.”

Skyline Solar also received another patent on its system architecture, bringing the total number of patents to eight. The company’s growing patent portfolio covers key design elements of the CPV panel, reflector, optics, support structure, tracker and thermal management. Skyline Solar has a total of 37 patent filings in the U.S. and 29 patent filings outside the U.S. The newly issued patent:

US Patent #8,039,777 — Titled “Solar collector with reflector having compound curvature.” This feature provides more uniform solar flux line increasing system performance.

The Skyline X14 System, named for its ability to concentrate sunlight 14 times using durable glass reflectors, delivers an LCOE of less than ten cents per kWh in sunny climates. It is the only CPV system to incorporate field-upgradability, allowing system owners to future-proof their investment against increased cell efficiency. Upgradability increases project Internal Rate of Return (IRR) by as much as 30 percent.

Skyline Solar executives will be exhibiting and meeting with customers and partners at the Solar Power International Show in Dallas, Texas, from October 17-20 at Booth #6427. To learn more about the patented Skyline X14 System please visit http://www.skyline-solar.com.

About Skyline Solar

Skyline Solar manufactures integrated concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) systems, incorporating industry-proven silicon cells, durable mirrors and single-axis tracking into easy-to-deploy solar power plants. The Skyline Solar X14 System delivers a levelized cost of energy (LCOE) below ten cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh), including incentives, in areas with high sun exposure. Built primarily out of commodity materials and assembled using globally available manufacturing processes, the Skyline X14 System offers customers excellent financial returns and outstanding scalability.

Skyline Solar was founded in 2007 and is led by veterans of the solar energy and high volume manufacturing industries. The company is funded by NEA and other investors, and has been awarded contracts by the US Department of Energy (DOE) and the Department of Defense (DOD). Skyline Solar has eight patents to date on its CPV architecture. For more information, visit www.skyline-solar.com.
