Saint-Gobain Named as Top Employer for 2014

Date: 18 March 2014

There was a double celebration for Saint-Gobain when the Group was recognised as a Top Employer both across Europe and in the UK.

The Top Employers Certificate was awarded to Saint-Gobain after an extensive audit by the Top Employers Institute, a process which includes independent verification by leading accountancy practice, Grant Thornton.

Saint-Gobain is one of a select number of organisations in the UK to achieve this prestigious certificate and the Group’s operations in France, Italy, Germany and Poland were also recognised. This is the second year in a row that Saint-Gobain UK has achieved Top Employer status. Richard Batley, HR Director for Saint-Gobain UK, Ireland & South Africa commented:

“Saint-Gobain’s strong organizational culture rooted in the Principles of Conduct & Action was singled out for praise by the Institute. It’s really great to receive external recognition for the strength of our values and how they guide our daily actions and help create an organization that people want to work for and alongside.”

The Institute, which is a specialist in the field of international research into HR management and working conditions, reviewed the HR policies and practices against a number of criteria including: primary and secondary benefits; working conditions; training and development; career development and culture.

“I am pleased that UK’s Top Employer 2014 has again recognised Saint-Gobain in the UK and across Europe.” says Peter Hindle MBE, General Delegate for Saint-Gobain UK, Ireland and South Africa. “This certificate gives an indication of the progress we have made in creating a sustainable organisation which offers rewarding careers to our employees and attracts new talent to the Group. In the UK we employ over 17,000 people and their development and wellbeing is fundamental to our success.”

Johann Labuschagne, from the Top Employers Institute, said: “Our extensive research concluded that Saint-Gobain forms part of a select group of employers that advance employee conditions worldwide. Their people are well taken care of and now that they have received the Top Employers 2014 certification, they can truly consider themselves at the top of an exclusive group of the world’s best employers. A real reason to celebrate!
