That, in the meantime, even buildings from the 1970s are listed as historically worthy of preservation is demonstrated by the former building of WestLB near Dortmund's central station, which has been converted into a medical centre. For the renovation of the bronze-coloured bands of windows, the completely new SGG COOL-LITE KT GOLD 137 developed by Saint-Gobain Glass was used for the first time.
SGG COOL-LITE KT GOLD 137: Same optics, better values
The challenge was to design a medical centre in the existing building which, on the one hand, satisfies the requirements of a modern medical centre and, on the other, retains the historic characteristics of the building - especially the bronze-coloured aluminium surfaces, the gold-coated solar protection glasses and white concrete balustrades. It was the declared intention that the contrast between the bronze-coloured coated panes of glass and the white concrete balustrades should be retained, however, the original window brands were no longer available. Instead, on the basis of SGG COOL-LITE SKN 165 solar protection glass, Saint-Gobain Glass developed a new product with SGG COOL-LITE KT 137 GOLD, which differs only slightly in appearance from the original shade of bronze, but which offers significantly better thermal insulation and solar protection properties.
