Saint Gobain buys stakes in Ukraine, Russian glass packaging companies

Compagnie de Saint-Gobain said its packaging division has recently acquired majority stakes in Ukraine-based Sklo Zorya and Russian companies Sitall and Kavminsteklo for an undisclosed sum.

Saint Gobain said the glass packaging companies had combined sales of 69 mln eur in 2004.

It said it has acquired the companies in collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) under an established partnership and the EBRD will have a minority stake in each company.
