SageGlass at AIA 2014 – Learning about the shape of things to come

Date: 26 June 2014

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is the premier national professional association for architects.

This week, AIA’s national conference will take place in Chicago, and we are excited to meet with several of our architect colleagues and share knowledge and information with the attendees.  Lighting & CodesOn Thursday, June 26, Dr.Helen Sanders, SAGE’s Vice President for Technical Business Development will be co-presenting with our friend and partner Dr. Pekka Hakkarainen, Vice President, Lutron Electronics to deliver a continuing education course entitled, Integrated Window and Lighting Systems Can Help Meet Challenging New Building Codes. The course, which will take place in Room S402, McCormick Place, looks at how dynamic fenestration – in concert with proper window size and location, interior furniture layout, and electric lighting – can provide flexibility for changing conditions in a building during the day and help architects overcome challenges created by potential conflicts in high-performance building standards such as ASHRAE 189.1-2009, LEED and other emerging minimum energy codes. The Shape of Things to Come

Architects shape our world, and SageGlass® is uniquely able to fit into the designs they envision. SageGlass is available in many geometric shapes including traditional squares and rectangles as well as trapezoids, parallelograms and triangles and some of those shapes will be on display in large form at the SageGlass booth, #3663.

Also this year, for the first time at AIA, SAGE will be displaying our newest offerings: SageGlass Unplugged™ and SageGlass LightZone™. The industry’s first self-powered, completely wireless electrochromic glass, SageGlass Unplugged makes it even easier for architects to deploy energy saving tintable glass in their designs. SageGlass LightZone lets buyers define three separate, independently controllable tinting zones within the same pane of SageGlass. With LightZone, architects can effectively manage glare, UV fading and maximize daylight potential in even the largest sized panes of SageGlass.

AIA is always an action-packed, fun filled and highly informative event with so much to take in, but if you find yourself with some downtime between sessions or while travelling, you might want to check out our new whitepapers we released this month: Fading Protection & SageGlass® and How to maintain neutral daylight illumination with SageGlass® electrochromic glazing.

We look forward to seeing you in the windy city and hearing about your building design ideas and questions.
