We were well prepared. We had slogged and swotted and we had tested each other. On July 9 and 10, 2013 the time had come: Inspectors of the “VBG”, the German Accident Prevention and Insurance Association, came to FLACHGLAS Wernberg – and checked anything, really absolutely anything having to do with occupational safety.   Actually, nobody felt seriously uneasy.

Our aim was to have all our safety measures thoroughly inspected by experts – to have them optimised if necessary. For we at FLACHGLAS Wernberg attach great importance to our employees’ safety in each and any business process.

After all on-site examinations and inspections had been completed, we were awarded VBG’s so-called “AMS” certificate. It confirms that FLACHGLAS Wernberg has introduced an effective occupational-safety management system meeting national and international standards.

By having our occupational-safety system certified we set forth a strategy that firmly embeds safety issues within our corporate culture. A key element in all this is the active participation of the entire FLACHGLAS Wernberg staff.

It was only last year that we demonstrated how easy it is to make occupational safety a collective concern. Together employees and master craftsmen developed cut-resistant pants for working at the glass cutting table. Those pants combine high functionality and optimal protection.

And by the way: The innovative pants were highly acclaimed not only internally. Its team of developers also won VBG’s Occupational Safety and Health Award 2012.
