Quanex Hosts Congressman at Washington Plant

Representative Adam Smith (D-Wash.) was welcomed by Quanex Building Products Corp.on May 21 at its extrusion plant in Kent, Wash.

The company invited the congressman as part of its efforts to engage with lawmakers and support policies that are in the best interest of the window and door industry, as well as local communities, official note.

During his visit to the Kent facility, Smith spent time with Ric Jackson, Quanex’s director of external affairs, learning about the company’s role in the window and door industry and its advocacy efforts in Washington, D.C. In addition, company officials discussed the impact of energy-saving products, such as the PVC and composite window and door systems manufactured at the plant.

“This is a critical time for the window and door industry to raise its collective voice in Washington, D.C., with a number of proposed tax incentive programs up for discussion,” Jackson says. “As a company, we have ramped up our efforts and are grateful to Congressman Smith for visiting our Kent facility, learning more about our business and interacting with our employees who are impacted by the decisions made in Congress.”

Congressman Smith also received a plant tour where he had an opportunity to meet employees and engage with key personnel. Discussions included Quanex’s role in advancing the energy efficiency of window and door products, as well as new innovations on the horizon from Kent.

“We are also in the process of planning future visits with other political figures, advocating for our 2,100 employees spanning 10 states, as well as the entire industry,” Jackson points out. “We will make our voice heard and hope our customers will join us in our efforts to support legislation that will help our industry grow and prosper.”
