Şişecam Group Vice Chairman and CEO Prof. Ahmet Kırman made the following statement on the matter, primarily expressing his deep gratitude to Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the Tatarstan Republic of the Russian Federation. “Şişecam Group is a global player in its business lines covering all the main areas of glass industry such as flat glass, glassware, glass packaging and glass fiber, as well as soda and chromium compounds. Today, we operate in four continents on an international scale with 22,000 employees, production activities in 14 countries and sales operations in more than 150 countries. Focusing its investment strategy on value-creating growth, our Group continues to create social and economic value across all of the geographies in which it operates.”
Şişecam Group's investments in Tatarstan reach USD 350 million level
Prof. Ahmet Kırman stated that as the only global player active in all three-core business areas of glass industry, Şişecam Group has investments in flat glass, glassware and glass packaging across the Russian Federation.
“Our Group has an annual production capacity of over 1.5 million tons in Russian Federation and total sum of our investments is over USD 1.2 billion. Our Group has ultimately added the flat glass investments in the Republic of Tatarstan to its investments in Russian Federation including glass packaging and glassware. The flat glass plant that we established with the Saint-Gobain partnership through an investment worth USD 210 million was commissioned in 2014 with a capacity of 230,000 tons/year. A hundred percent Şişecam investment, the automotive glass plant cost USD 100 million with an annual production capacity of 3.2 million square meters. We, therefore, were able to commission both flat glass and automotive glass plants, which are among the leading production facilities with the technologies they are equipped with in the world. Currently, our total investments in Tatarstan amount to USD 350 million along with additional and sustained investments. Thanks to our investments in the flat glass and automotive glass plants, our Group further achieved significant success and became an important player in the flat glass market in the region as well,” Prof. Kırman said in his statement.
