PPG Porter Paints launches Nashville Color Collection

Date: 12 March 2012

New palette inspired by traditional and modern architecture of local residencesNASHVILLE, Tenn., March 7, 2012 – PPG Porter Paints today announced the launch of the Nashville Color Collection, a new palette of 75 colors representing the significant shades of the Nashville landscapes.

Encompassing Nashville’s bright, lively cityscapes and the incredible shades of the southern seasons, the palette combines the neutral colors found in traditional bungalows with the bold shades of the area’s modern communities.

The Nashville Color Collection brings to life the landmarks that helped shape Nashville – from the beautiful notes and scene on Broadway to Nashville’s landscape, rich in history and tradition. Every color in the palette has a story ranging from the musically inspired “Opry Gold” to “Gulch Green,” inspired by the Gulch neighborhood – the first LEED® certified southern community.

“The palette represents the musical roots of Nashville with a mix of saturated, vibrant hues inspired by the city’s contemporary architecture to create a collection of colors familiar to the Nashville area,” said Troy Harper, color consultant for the PPG PORTER PAINTS® brand, contributor to the palette and Nashville resident. “The colors in this collection allow homeowners to bring the inspiring shades that make the area unique into their homes.”

Illustrating the area’s most recognizable hues, palette color “Café Blue” draws inspiration from the famous Blue Bird Café, a popular venue for up-and-coming country music stars, while other colors such as “LEEDing Green” are associated with city’s recent sustainable achievements.

“The palette was developed to encompass the authenticity of the Nashville area,” Harper said. “We took elements commonly used in Nashville residences such as white kitchen cabinets, slate and hardwood flooring and developed the palette to seamlessly correspond or provide contrast with the undertones found in these materials to fit a homeowner’s personal style.”

Developed by local representatives and color experts of PPG Industries’ (NYSE:PPG) architectural coatings business, the Nashville Color Collection is part of THE VOICE OF COLOR® program of the PPG Porter Paints brand. The collection is available at PPG Porter Paints stores in the SILKEN TOUCH® line of super-premium quality paint that offers exceptional coverage and stain release, the HI-HIDE® line of premium quality paint that offers excellent hiding and durability, and all other PPG Porter Paints brand lines.
