PPG Announces Marketing Partnership With Sinoma Science & Technology

PPG Industries announced it has signed a distribution agreement with Sinoma Science & Technology Co., Ltd., of Nanjing for the marketing and sale of their HS2 and HS4 high-strength, high-modulus fibers in the Americas and Europe.





The partnership leverages the North American and European market positions of PPG, one of the world’s largest producers of continuous-strand glass fiber, and Sinoma Science & Technology’s fiber composition and manufacturing expertise in support of the high-performance composites market, according to Victoria M. Holt, PPG senior vice president, glass and fiber glass.



“This partnership will give PPG entrée into the growing high-performance composites market,” Holt said. “PPG is very committed to serving customers in this market, and adding HS4 high-strength fiber to our product offering will bring our customers the high-modulus, high-performance parts they need.”



Zhu Jianxun, vice chairman of the board, Sinoma Science & Technology, said, ”Through this close cooperation between Sinoma Science & Technogy and PPG, the HS2 and HS4 fiber glass internationalization process will be accelerated, improving the brand position. This cooperation will also provide the best possible composite solutions for customers in all markets worldwide.”



In the Asia/Pacific region, PPG and Sinoma Jinjing Fiber Glass Co. Ltd. operate a 50-50 joint venture, PPG Sinoma Jinjing Fiber Glass Co. Ltd., in Zibo, Shandong, China, serving the global thermosets market. Also, PPG and Nan Ya Plastics Corp. have operated joint ventures PFG Fiber Glass Corp. in Chia Yi, Taiwan, since 1991, and PFG Fiber Glass (Kunshan) Co. Ltd. in Kunshan, China, since 2003, serving the Asian markets for fiber glass electronic and specialty materials yarns and reinforcements.
