O-I Names Vice President of Sustainability

Owens-Illinois, Inc. announced that Jay Scripter has been named O-I vice president of sustainability. Mr.

Scripter will focus on building O-I´s capabilities in the key disciplines of sustainability and to develop the strategies, management processes and key initiatives needed to position glass as the most sustainable packaging material.



Jay will partner with operations, engineering, marketing, legal, communications and other functional teams to further shape our sustainability strategy and priorities. In addition, he will lead projects and networks of resources that focus on key opportunities in the areas of energy, environmental compliance, safety, recycling and related issues.



"We believe that sustainability is a key value driver for competitive advantage in our future. This role will have a powerful influence on O-I competitiveness, the image of glass and the competitive position of the glass industry as a whole," said Rich Crawford, O-I president of Global Glass Operations.



Mr. Scripter brings 20 years of general management, operations, Lean Six Sigma and engineering experience in both the chemicals and building materials sectors. Most recently, he served as vice president of H.B. Fuller´s North American business.
