Date: 7 December 2005
Nippon Sheet Glass (NSG) announced on December 6 that it has begun developing a large-scale greenhouse to cultivate tomatoes in collaboration with Kagome and Kajima.
Specifically, the three companies aim to develop a greenhouse using low-emissivity (low-e) coated glass.
The new greenhouse will be able to stably maintain the transmittance of visible light while substantially reducing heating energy. Some estimate that the greenhouse will be able to reduce energy by up to 35%.
Currently, NSG and Kagome are conducting a demonstration test with high-functional glass at Kagome's subsidiary Kadasaien located in Wakayama prefecture.
Going forward, the three partners plan to proceed with development based on findings from the demonstration test.
