NEG to invest $170M in PDP glass capacity expansion

Panel maker Nippon Electric Glass Co. Ltd (NEG) announced that it plans to invest almost $170 million in expanding its PDP glass substrates by the middle of this year.

The Nihon Keizai Shimbun recently reported that NEG will expand its production facilities in Takatsuki, Shiga. According to industry sources, the company decided to expand capacity in July 2006 to increase its glass substrate supply, in line with its major client Matsushita Electric Ind. Co. Ltd also transferring mass production at a new panel production line in Hyogo at the same time.
