The 4th Forum on Translucent Structures. Windows, Facades, Doors has become an important event of the Mir Stekla conference programme held at Expocentre Fairgrounds.

The conference was organised by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Committee on Entrepreneurship in the Construction Industry, the Russian Union of Designers, the National Association of Construction Industry Participants and EXPOCENTRE AO.

An analytical session was held by Viktor Novoselov, President of the Russian Union of Designers.

Efim Basin, Chairman of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Committee on Entrepreneurship in the Construction Industry, greeted the forum participants. "We lag behind many developed countries in the use of glass. Glass is a wonderful, environmentally friendly, fire-resistant and very useful material for life and comfort. Glass should be presented not only as a window opening, a transparent structure, but also as a load-bearing, energy-saving structure. And this can be achieved thanks to modern technology," said the chairman of the Committee.

Efim Basin drew attention to the need to localise the production of special structures based on different structural materials. In his opinion, today the regulatory and technical base for the use of glass in the construction industry is lagging behind. As part of import substitution, investments are needed to strengthen the production of domestic structures. State support measures for the construction industry are of great importance.

The forum's analytical session was dedicated to analysing the situation resulting from the sanctions and searching for new solutions in import substitution. Speakers from the industry spoke in detail about what components are missing today, what needs to be done to replace them, and what difficulties there are in reorienting to new suppliers and in logistics.

Andrey Lotsmanov, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Union of industrialists and Entrepreneurs Committee for Technical Regulation, Standardisation and Conformity Assessment, gave an analytical review on "Technical Regulation "Building Materials"Nikolay Gavrilov-Kremichev, Head of Information and Publishing Centre "Modern Building Structures", told about the market situation and prospects of further sustainable and efficient development of the glass industry and translucent constructions production.

Alexandra Kurenkova, Director of the Interregional Institute of Windows and Facade Structures, devoted her report to the regulatory framework in the field of translucent structures. Alexander Konstantinov, Head of the Scientific Research Centre "Facade Systems" at the Moscow State University drew the attention of the colleagues to the importance of scientific research in the formation of regulatory documentation in the field of translucent structures.

The forum included a discussion session on "The industry and safety of translucent structures, technical regulation, regulatory support for the use of glass in construction".

The session participants talked about high-performance facade glazing for high-rise construction, the problems of counterfeiting and falsification on the insulating glass market, developing and organising pilot production of the facade system. They also gave their opinion on what impedes the reform of Russian technical regulation in construction and discussed the quality of installation of window structures and many other issues. Presentations were made by representatives of major construction companies.
