Kevin Vilhauer, Engineering Manager of Testing and Certification at Milgard, is one of five newly elected members in the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) Board of Directors.

Kevin is one of four first-timers elected to the board and represents the primary residential product manufacturer in the fenestration category.“This has been an especially exciting election because we ended up with four new people on the board,” said NFRC’s CEO, Jim Benney. “This indicates a growing appreciation for the value of our programs and an increasing desire among people of diverse backgrounds to be involved in developing them.”The NFRC Board provides the direction, vision and strategic planning for the organization.NFRC has been a longtime source for providing rating and labeling to help consumers compare the performance of windows, doors and skylights.

“I am honored to represent window manufacturers on the NFRC Board of Directors. This is an exciting time in our industry when window, door and skylight energy performance, in the form of NFRC ratings, is becoming an important opportunity for energy savings of buildings. In addition, there are many major changes happening within NFRC and it is a privilege to be a part of the solutions.”

Kevin joined Milgard in 2000 and has managed Milgard’s product thermal certification and R&D for over 10 years. He has also been involved in NFRC for over 10 years and is the current chair for the Condensation Resistance Task Group and Subcommittee. During his time at Milgard, he obtained 7 patents, and was one of the inventors of Milgard’s award winning SmartTouch® Lock.
