Isoclima Exhibiting Its VebLite Brand of SPD-SmartGlass For Military Applications At The 2012 Land Warfare Conference

Date: 30 October 2012

Research Frontiers (Nasdaq: REFR) licensee Isoclima S.p.A. is exhibiting (Stand 280) its VebLite brand of SPD-Smart windows for military applications at the 2012 Land Warfare Conference being held October 29-November 2, 2012 in Melbourne, Australia.

VebLite is Isoclima’s SPD-Smart solar control and privacy glazing product that functions like a venetian blind. It has multiple segments that provide instantly customizable shading fully controlled by the passenger and can be operated individually to create the effect of a shade being raised or lowered or moved to the side. This precisely controls where incoming heat and glare enter a military vehicle, and also controls where and to what degree people outside the vehicle can see into it.

Isoclima offers two versions of VebLite – VebLite Dark and VebLite Light. VebLite Dark can block over 99.5% of incoming visible light, while VebLite Light offers higher levels of light transmission when fully clear.

Alberto Bertolini, Executive Director of Isoclima S.p.A. commented: “Our VebLite SPD-Smart products meet the stringent requirements of military use and excel in several very important aspects. First, the dark privacy of the window allows for better security because personnel within the vehicle cannot be seen. Second, because it is possible to enable security personnel at border crossings and other security checkpoints to view inside the vehicle instantly without opening a window (which may not even be possible in some military and armored glass vehicles), passenger safety is ensured because the armored glass protective shield is maintained. And, because windows in armored vehicles cannot always be opened, the very effective heat blocking capabilities of VebLite keep the interior cooler to enhance passenger comfort and improve vehicle efficiency.”

The Land Warfare Conference is a major event for users, providers, academics, designers and manufacturers to meet, present, share and exchange new and visionary ideas on land-based military systems. It is hosted by the Australian government’s Department of Defense. More information about the 2012 Land Warfare Conference is available from the event website.
