As a key partner in Living Tomorrow, DuPont featured products offer consumers a glimpse of life in the future based on the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainable development.
The opening event provided attendees the earliest possible look at the project, plus the opportunity to witness the ‘Europe 2010’ Innovation Debate, involving Group Vice President – DuPont Safety & Protection, Mark Vergnano .
“Innovation is in our company’s DNA,” Vergnano said. Many innovative solutions developed through our science are now a part of our daily life. The same is true for the concept of Living Tomorrow. It is a perfect match for our vision, which is to bring market solutions that make life better, safer and healthier.
“Living Tomorrow clearly demonstrates the depth of our scientific capabilities,” added Ian Hudson, president, DuPont Europe, Middle East and Africa. We are presenting One DuPont – a science company dedicated to delivering solutions that work together to address society’s needs and challenges. “Our research and development efforts are focused on areas of major concern to society such as climate change, fossil fuel energy use, or the environment; areas which are key to leave a sustainable planet for our children and for their children.”
DuPont’s mission is sustainable growth – creating value for shareholders and society, while reducing the environmental footprint along the value chains in which we operate. Living Tomorrow 3 embodies DuPont’s commitment to deliver sustainability through science.
DuPont Innovative Offerings Highlighted at Living Tomorrow 3 include:
Science-Based Construction Offerings
New technologies developed by DuPont enhance residential homes, improving comfort levels while reducing energy consumption. DuPontTM Climate Systems are breathing membranes and damp regulating layers, which improve heat insulation. DuPontTM EnergainTM wall panels prevent excess energy consumption and unpleasant temperature peaks in low-inertia buildings. DuPont Powder Coatings offer protection against corrosion and the effects of weather.
DuPont Enhances Architectural Glass Designs
Contemporary architects are finding creative uses for glass in building design. Architects are now able to use layered glass, which is sheet glass bonded with transparent films developed by DuPont. Thin and strong, layered glass made with DuPontTM SentryGlas® Plus film offers long-term protection against break-in and shattering because the shards remain attached to the film.
DuPont™ Corian® for Hygiene and Aesthetics
In the sensor-operated, multifunctional kitchen area of the Home of the Future designed by globally renowned architect, Zaha Hadid, and made in cooperation with high-quality kitchen producer Ernestomeda, the cooking island (the Z-island) is made from DuPont TM Corian®. DuPont TM Corian® is non-porous, solid colored and extremely durable. DuPont TM Corian® is available in over 100 colors and so versatile that it can be made in just about every conceivable shape.
Lifestyle Enhancements
DuPont innovations extend to gardens. DuPont weed control fabric is pesticide free and keeps gardens free of the nuisance of weeds. The hobby room in the Home of the Future is warmed using under floor heating. This system offers extreme durability thanks to virtually wearproof DuPontTM Tefzel® used for cable insulation.
