The Glass Machinery Company raises Hope for Children’s Charity

Date: 26 June 2012

This year The Glass Machinery Company will be working hard for charity, helping to support Hope House Children’s Hospice on a Charity Golfing Day on 5th July 2012.

The company, recognized for supplying quality machinery to the glass industry will be taking part in a sponsored match at Wychwood Park Championship Golf Course which is one of Cheshire’s best Championship golf course and hosts the PGA Europro Tour.

Phil Birchall Managing Director at The Glass Machinery Company states that supporting a local charity means a lot to the entire team as everyone wishes to give something back to the community by helping to support families and sick children.

While many in the industry are familiar with this charity already it takes a great deal of cash to run very needed facilities. These Hospices are extremely special as all ‘clinical’ aspects are removed so they feel more like home than a hospital. Staff do not wear uniforms and the atmosphere is laid back. giving real support to the parents and children, a place to meet other families in similar circumstances.

The Hope House charity was established after Hope Peachey died aged just eight months and her parents then helped to campaign to build a hospice in the Oswestry area.. It was opened in May 1995 providing care and nursing for life limited children. More than 250 terminally ill children and their families have been cared for at Hope House which now caters for the special needs and requirements of children from Shropshire, Cheshire, Wrexham area and Powys.

Phil and his team hope to raise support from other members of the industry in raising awareness for this worthy cause by sponsoring the Charity Golf Day. Anyone interested in backing this charity event should contact Cheryl Davies-Pyatt on 01630 638555.

Phil comments, “It costs around £3million pounds to maintain the hospice service and most of this money comes from fundraising. Every single penny counts and it is such a worthy cause when you see the benefits and happiness it can bring to entire families who have such big issues to face. Any parent will fully understand the desire to support this charity as it gives real support to the parents and children as well as a place to meet other families in similar circumstances”.
