Glass industry in Malaysia remains robust

THE local glass industry is booming with RM3bil turnover for both glass manufacturing and processing streams of the industry, said Malaysia Glass Association (MGA) chairman Ho Sai Woo.

MGA was the local host for Glasstech Asia 2013, which was co-organised by the Singapore Glass Association (SGA) and Conference & Exhibition Management Services Pte Ltd (CEMS). “Malaysia is an ideal host for the event given the significant role that the industry plays in the country’s economy.The downstream industry has created more than 10,000 jobs with an annual turnover of RM2bil, while the upstream hires about 1,200 workers with a turnover of RM400mil a year,” said Ho.
