Glass comes out on top at Packaging Awards 2014

Date: 19 November 2014

Last Wednesday saw the UK Packaging Awards 2014 held by Packaging News at the London Hilton take place.

Hosted by comedian Andy Parsons, the event attracted over 700 people from across the industry to celebrate the best in packaging.     British Glass sponsored the Glass Pack of the Year Award, with Dave Dalton, our CEO doing the presenting honours to our winning members, Allied Glass, for their Tanqueray No.10 bottle with our other members, Ardagh, O-I and Stoelzle, shortlisted for the award.Congratulations to you all!

Ardagh also won the International Sourcing Award and were highly commended for the Best New Concept Award for their Absolut Originality bottle – using partial colouring for what is believe to be the first time on a commercial scale in the glass container industry.  Ardagh were also highly commended in the Limited Edition of the Year category for their Bombay Sapphire Laverstoke Mill Limited Edition – a limited edition gin bottle, paying homage to the history of the gin with illustrations.

We were delighted to see glass packaging recognised in so many categories and we’ll be encouraging members to enter even more categories next year!
