Date: 22 March 2019

For the first time, the FORUM 2020 will dedicate a separate lecture block to "PVC windows". EPPA will present important topics there, in particular on sustainability.

The EPPA lecture block at the FORUM 2020 continues the topics from 2018. At that time EPPA presented the VinylPlus® Product Label. It is regarded as the first sustainability label for PVC windows that is intended to offer window construction competitive advantages.

Because windows with the Product Label meet strict sustainability criteria that affect the entire value chain: from the procurement of raw materials to the efficient use of energy and recycling. In 2018, the first four manufacturers of PVC window profile systems who acquired the label were honoured.

In the meantime, four more system houses have been added. In the presentation 2020, trade visitors will learn how the VinylPlus Product Label is developing in Germany and Europe and what significance it has in the industry with regard to sustainable construction.

Promoting the recycling of dismantled PVC windows

Another sustainability aspect that EPPA will address in its lecture programme is the subject of PVC window recycling, in particular in connection with the EU plastics strategy. The PVC window industry is very committed to implementing this strategy.

In order to meet the agreed recycling volumes by 2030, certain conditions must be met: For example, more collection points for PVC windows are needed throughout Europe in order to transport the windows from there to recycling facilities. EPPA will report on the current status of the commitment of the PVC windows industry in the FORUM in 2020.

The event on the subject of PVC windows will take place on 20.03.2020 from 10:30 a.m.–14:00 p.m. Further topics to be handled: European quality aspects, digitisation and new trends.
