Emirates Float Glass receives DED's Award of Appreciation

Dubai, 4 Feb. 2012 (WAM) - Emirates Float Glass (EFG) LLC, largest manufacturer of architectural flat glass in the Middle East, a subsidiary of Glass LLC and wholly owned by Dubai Investments PJSC, has been honored with a special award of appreciation from the Department of Economic Development (DED) of Abu Dhabi for its significant involvement in improving Abu Dhabi's non-oil export targets during 2011 Joy Mathews, Director-Engineering Projects at EFG, received the appreciation on behalf of the organization from His Excellency Mohammed Omar Abdullah, Undersecretary, Department of Economic Development, at a high profile ceremony attended by government dignitaries.

Ghassan Mashal, General Manager of Emirates Float Glass, said: "It is an honour for EFG to be recognised by the Government through this prestigious award. Our focus has been to aid the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 and transform the UAE's economic base for long-lasting benefits.

"EFG commenced production in March 2009. Within the short span, it has transformed itself into a world-class glass manufacturing and processing facility. Located on a 320,000 square meter plot at the Abu Dhabi Industrial City, the unit currently produces about 180,000 tons of glass products per annum under phase-I." The production facility of Emirates Float Glass is located in a scenic coastal desert area in Abu Dhabi. Its product range of clear, tinted and pyrolytic-coated float glass caters to the architectural and automotive industries, and is exported to over 40 countries.



One of the largest single-location integrated glass manufacturing facilities in the UAE, EFG endorses world-class standards and practices in its delivery commitments. The company has long-term plans to consolidate and emerge as a global leader in this business segment.
