It added Czech glassworks in particular had considerable room to raise their supplies to the USA, owing to growing demand.

"The USA is the world's biggest market for gifts and our products should be there. Czech glassworks will hardly find rivals in this field," said CzechTrade chief executive Jitka Hanzlickova.

Many Czech companies, including Ornex and Preciosa, have already succeeded on the local market and sell their products to large retail chains, she added.

Hanzlickova said Czech producers did not have many opportunities to present their products in the USA. At end of July, CzechTrade plans to present the Czech gift and glass industry at the Gift and Home Market in Chicago.

"Americans are crazy about high-quality craftwork from Europe and Czech glass is a trademark that sells well," said Ivana Ingramova, head of CzechTrade's office in Chicago.
