During the meeting, the Vinyl Material Council suggested to CPC that the same draft procedures for second-and third-party painting and laminating of AAMA-certified profiles be available to profile producers themselves as an option to AAMA 109, Procedural Guide for the AAMA Fenestration Exterior Thermoplastic Profile Certification Program requirements. Currently, work is underway on the draft procedural guide.
The CPC authorized accreditation of AAMA-accredited labs for tornado hazard mitigation testing and authorized an appropriate tornado mitigating tab to the AAMA gold label for products tested and certified to AAMA 512, Voluntary Specifications for Tornado Hazard Mitigating Fenestration Products, which provides a system for testing and rating the ability of windows and their anchorage to withstand extreme wind loading, debris impact and water penetration typical of tornadoes.(Click here to read more about AAMA 512.)
To accomplish this, ASTM E2268, Standard Test Method for Water Penetration of Exterior Windows, Skylights, and Doors by Rapid Pulsed Air Pressure Difference is now authorized for addition to Appendix A (Test Methods) of AAMA LAP-1 (the Lab Accreditation Program Manual).
In regards to certification testing, the CPC repealed the requirements to successfully test to AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A440-05, North American Fenestration Standard/Specification for windows, doors, and unit skylights when testing for certification to NAFS-02, NAFS-08 or NAFS-11. Certification testing to AAMA/WDMA 101/I.S.2-97 ended on March 1, 2012; however, test reports prior to that date are still valid for certification for the remainder of their full four-year term in the AAMA Certification Program. Certification testing to NAFS-02 will end as of March 1, 2013.
Also during the meeting, the CPC permitted the formal approval of non-manufacturer’s component test labs overseas.
