The glass industry of China witnessed rapid and sustained development in the Eleventh Five Year Plan period that has just passed.

Remarkable progress has been made in structural adjustment, independent innovation and energy conservation and emission reduction. The proportion of the float glass output accounts for over 87%, and the productive capacity of high-quality float glass reached 35%. Technologies, including large-tonnage float glass production lines, waste-heat power generation, emission treatment and oxy-fuel firing have found even wider application in the whole glass industry. While making development, we are faced with various problems, such as structural redundancy and shortage, short industrial chains, low added values, insufficient intensive glass processing, low level of key technology and equipment, and pressing task of energy conservation and emission reduction. Coexistence of successes and difficulties implies a necessary mission of the Chinese glass industry to adjust the orientation and mode of development. This makes the China Glass exhibition, which is among the three largest glass expositions in the world, provide a wider platform of demonstration and become more attractive to the worldwide glass circles.

In such circumstances, China Glass 2012, organized by the Chinese Ceramic Society and run by the Beijing Zhonggui Exhibition Co., Ltd., will be staged in Shanghai on 2-5 April, 2012. This event will have seven halls at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (Halls E1-E7), covering an area of over 80,000 square metres, larger than all its previous events. Technologies, equipment and products related to low-carbon economy and the latest development of energy-saving glass and new energy technology are highlights of this exhibition.

Up to date, about 170 companies have registered booths in the international exhibition area, which covers more than 7000 square metres, an increase of 1000 square metres over China Glass 2011. Germany, Italy and America will as usual have their state pavilions. The German pavilion reserved 600 square metres, much larger than that of the last show. Italian Trade Commission and GIMAV have kept good co-operation with China Glass and their exhibition booths will be much larger compared with the last event. At present, the European economy is still suffering recession, nevertheless Italian enterprises are participating in China Glass with great enthusiasm in this economic environment. The American exhibitors group organized by Dame Associates Inc. has sixteen companies. In last May, some Turkish companies participated in China Glass for the first time, and benefited greatly at the show. They sold their machines and equipment on the spot, which makes them brim with confidence in the China Glass exhibition and they hence ordered much larger booths area this time, several times as larger as their booths at China Glass 2011.

So far, more than 530 Chinese companies have fixed their booths and the total number of exhibitors will be certainly higher than that of the last event. Glass companies from all parts of China fell over each other to sign up to attend China Glass 2012 through phone calls, faxes or website, which takes too much time of the staff in allotting booths. Even if the total area of the seven exhibition halls is nearly 20,000 square metres larger than that of the last event, there are now about 200 companies waiting in line for being assigned booths.

It is expected that manufacturers, instead of dealers and agents, will take a large proportion of the exhibitors at this show compared with the previous events of China Glass. The visitors then can have more chances to face first-hand products and technology directly, which helps more rapid and effective information transformation. Many of the exhibiting companies will bring their core technologies and latest products to the show because they have for a long time regarded China Glass to be the preferred stage of demonstration. Thanks to great attraction of China Glass, besides many returned companies, a number of newcomers will show up at China Glass 2012 from Russia, Vietnam, Turkey, France, America, Germany, Italy, etc., such as Best Cam Isieme Makinalari Imalat Sanayi Ve Ticaret Ltd., AGC Business Consulting (Shanghai) Ltd., Wintriss Inspection Solutions (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., Sinoptix Shanghai Office, Ekaterinburg Non-ferrous Metals Processing Plant, The Ural Plant of Chemical Reagents, Dom Home Science Glass Mirror Co., Ltd., Aachener, Dornbush, Pennekamp, Futronic, as well as numeral Chinese companies.

Moreover, associated with the exhibition, technical seminars will be given and GPD China 2012 is arranged just before the exhibition.

For years, China Glass has maintained good co-operation with news media worldwide. Major foreign websites and magazines, as well as leading Chinese media have released related reports and photos or open special columns to promote the China Glass exhibition, including Italian GlassOnWeb, Glass-Technology International, Glass Machinery Plants & Accessories, German OGIS, DGG Journal, m+a Data Bank for International Tradeshows and Expositions, Glass Magazine of the NGA and USGlass, and Glass Worldwide, Glass and Asian Glass of the UK, Indian Glass Bulletin, Egyptian Middle East Glass Magazine, China Building Materials, Building Doors Windows Curtain Walls & Equipment, Doors Windows Curtain Walls & Equipment, China Building Materials Daily, Architectural Glass and Functional Glass, Doors Windows Curtain Walls, Journal of the Chinese Ceramic Society, International Glass Manufacturing, Glass in China, Glass Industry, Qinhuangdao-based Glass.
