Broussard was recognized for her leadership and contributions in the Central Massachusetts business community, purchasing the company in 2001 and shepherding it through a series of technological improvements that led to the firm being honored with the 2009 Crystal Achievement Award by Glass Magazine. She was also recognized for preserving the livelihoods of the company’s 100 employees, as well as those of the small vendors that supplied the manufacturer with materials used in the production of the windows and accessories.
“I accepted this award on behalf of the employees of Universal, because without their creativity, persistence, determination, and innovation, there would be no Universal Window and Door today,” said Broussard. “This award is a tribute to their hard work and determination in the face of adversity.”
The Worcester Business Journal annually recognizes women business leaders from the region for their outstanding contributions to their given industry as well as community contributions. Ms. Broussard was profiled in the October 27 issue of the Worcester Business Journal and was honored at an awards celebration on November 14 at Tuckerman’s Hall in Worcester.
