ISO 14001 is an international standard for environmental management systems whose goal is to reduce the ecological footprint of a business and decrease pollution and waste.
To achieve this voluntary certification, Bekaert Specialty Films established an Environmental Management System (EMS) to ensure the company’s activities and products have minimal impact on the environment. Bekaert Specialty Films’ EMS helps monitor and improve energy efficiency, resource conservation, waste management and chemical control. Additionally the EMS aims to:
Reduce the environmental impact of BSF’s manufacturing operations;
Improve the work environment and create cross-functional teams that foster awareness, understanding and responsibility across the organization; and
Enhance relations with the community, regulators and stakeholders.
“ISO 14001:2004 certification is an extension of our commitment to protecting the environment and ensuring the health and safety of employees, customers and the communities in which we operate,” said Christophe Fremont, President, Bekaert Specialty Films. “More and more companies are prioritizing window film in their budgets, and our environmental standards will give them confidence that our products are the right choice to achieve their energy savings goals.”
Independent analyses show that window film can help organizations reduce energy expenditures by up to 30 percent. Recognized by the Department of Energy as an energy-saving solution, window film reduces the load HVAC systems have to manage and helps save electricity. Through the Solar Gard Energy Toolbox, facility managers can receive customized energy analyses and quantify the value of professional window film installation.
