Bekaert, the only supplier of complete rotatable sputtering systems that help customers realize lower cost of ownership and higher coater throughput, today announced the appointment of Yoshi Okamoto to Regional Manager for Asia, and Thomas Wang to Market Manager for Taiwan and South East Asia.

Okamoto will manage Bekaert’s Sputter Products sales and marketing efforts for display, architectural and optical glass coating applications in the Asian market. Wang will be responsible for all sales and marketing efforts in Taiwan and South East Asia, specific to Bekaert’s Sputter Products.

“Yoshi and Thomas are seasoned industry professionals who bring a wealth of sales and marketing experience, accompanied with strong backgrounds in the vacuum coating business, to our growing presence in Asia,” said Mario Hertegonne, General Manager of Industrial Coatings, Bekaert. “Their addition, along with the recent opening of our state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Suzhou, China, is a testament to Bekaert’s dedication to our growing customer base in Asia. We are committed to partnering with our customers worldwide to ensure the highest level of product service and support.”

Okamoto will focus on bringing sputtering technologies to the display and optical coating industry and educating the market on all of the advantages and cost benefits of adopting rotatable technology for ITO coating. Prior to his current role, Okamoto was the Regional Manager for Bekaert Sputter films focused on display products in Asia. He will work out of Bekaert’s Tokyo offices.

With more than 16 years in the electronics and coating applications industries, Wang brings extensive industry expertise to Bekaert’s advanced materials global sales and marketing team. Wang will be headquartered in Bekaert’s Taipei, newly set-up Taiwan office.

Bekaert presently holds a prominent portion of the market for rotatable magnetron sputtering equipment in Asia. The company is expanding to meet the needs of its industrial customers who are upgrading their facilities from planar equipment to Rotatable Magnetron Sputtering systems; this conversion reduces their total cost of ownership, while maintaining high quality glass coating.

Okamoto and Wang join existing team members, Bob Lin, Market Manager for China and Jason Park, Market Manager for Korea, who already serving customers in Asia.
