Arthur Berkowitz Receives Inaugural C. Gregory Carney Legacy Award from the Glass Association of North America

Date: 12 February 2014

Arthur Berkowitz, president and CEO of J.E. Berkowitz, LP, (JEB), was awarded the first-ever C. Gregory Carney Member of the Year Award at the Glass Association of North America (GANA) Annual Conference last week.   The C.

Gregory Carney Member of the Year Award is a new honor, remembering the enduring contributions of GANA’s recently departed associate and glazing industry leader, Greg Carney. Nominees were selected by GANA staff and voted upon by the GANA Board of Directors.

“The creation of this award is meant to carry Greg’s legacy forward,” said Tracey Rogers, president, GANA Board of Directors. “His legacy of commitment, collaboration and camaraderie won’t be forgotten and we want to honor other industry leaders and GANA members who exemplify a similar enthusiasm and dedication to the industry.”

According to an announcement from GANA, Berkowitz was selected for his involvement in organizing the recent GANA Northeast Regional Roundtable in Newark, N.J., his support in developing the concept of an executive glazing management session, and for his efforts to encourage independent fabricators to continue involvement within GANA.

Berkowitz, who has been a member of GANA for 37 years, said, “I was not expecting any honor nor am I deserving. GANA, and people like the late Greg Carney, do the heavy lifting, and I have benefited much more from their work and efforts than I have contributed to this organization. As an interested observer, I can unequivocally state that the organization today is better managed, and more effective in technical and industry advocacy work than in its early years because of the efforts of people like Greg Carney, as well as its terrific staff and the other honorees receiving individual Division awards.”
