Final statistics confirm this with attendance exceeding initial expectations: 20,255 visitors (similar to Vitrum 2009), 10,478 of whom from Italy and 9,777 from overseas (up by 3.30% vs. 2009).
Every other year Vitrum in fact attracts attendees from across the globe and has established itself as the No. 1 industry event, by combining Italian glass tradition with the presentation of cutting-edge techniques and technologies.
Spread out on a 26,727 sq m net surface area, with an 1.34% increase compared to the previous show in 2009, this year’s Vitrum hosted 482 exhibitors from 26 different countries. With a 5.96% increase of overseas exhibitors vs. the previous show, Vitrum was once again an eagerly awaited appointment for international companies. The main areas of origin of exhibitors were Italy, Germany and China, followed by the United Kingdom and the USA.
Italian exhibitors had the lion’s share, with approximately 68.63% of the exhibition area given over to the latest made-in-Italy offerings. A very positive feeling prevailed among the 251 Italian exhibitors who managed to make interesting contacts with prospective buyers.
As confirmed by Renata Gaffo, Director of Vitrum: “ We are satisfied with the number of Italian and overseas visitors who appreciated this year’s Vitrum as well as with the number of participating exhibitors. The market situation is still uncertain and demand fluctuates between pick-up and fall-off moments, but once again Vitrum results are tangible proof of the industry buoyancy“.
The first Vitrum Gourmet Festival, a festival dedicated to Italian haute cuisine, the hallmark of made-in-Italy excellence worldwide, was very positively received. For the first time ever within a trade fair, 7 Michelin stars gave rise to a high-caliber culinary event: 4 chefs who repeatedly received the most prestigious and coveted international award took center stage at the new event designed for all Vitrum 2011 attendees. Every day during the fair, a different chef showed off his skills by preparing a special, select menu from his own repertoire.
Vitrum therefore managed to put together the best of made-in-Italy and showcase it to an international audience.
