1. ContentsNippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. ( “the Company” ) confirms that Pilkington Group Limited ( “Pilkington” ), a subsidiary of the Company, has decided that it will not file an appeal against the Decision by the European Commission to levy a civil fine of Euro 140 million ( JPY 22.5 billion ) against Pilkington with regard to the European building products glass sector, as stated in the Company's press release dated 28th November 2007.

Pilkington also received, on 20th April 2007, a Statement of Objections with regard to the European automotive glass sector. The outcome of that case is still outstanding.



2. Impact upon the operation

As announced on 22 May 2007, the Company has made a provision for the estimated fine payment for building products and automotive glass. Consequently, the Company does not expect to have to make a further Revision of Operating Result Outlook to take account of this development.
