Guardian Building Products announces new distribution facility in Belcamp, Maryland

Date: 8 February 2016

Guardian Building Products (GBP) announces the opening of its newest building products distribution center, now serving Belcamp, Maryland and its surrounding metros.

Located just 30 minutes northeast of downtown Baltimore, the service footprint extends 150 miles allowing additional service into southern New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania and northern Virginia.

The center boasts 50,000 square feet under roof with an additional 60,000 square feet of outdoor storage.

The facility is also fully equipped with a new racking system, effectively doubling space on the ground with over 1,200 pallet racks.

The move also allows GBP to nearly triple its product offering to customers.

The product offering includes many products from the following brands: GAF® roofing, TAMKO® roofing, Fiberon® Decking, Knauf Insulation, Color Guard® railings, Plygem vinyl sidings, OX insulated sheathings, USG™ gypsum products, Palram PVC trim, Amerimax™ Aluminum, Lomanco® ventilation products, Glasteel® fiberglass reinforced panels, and 25 other name brand vendors.

“We have long-term plans to develop a continuous service footprint along the Atlantic coastline. The Belcamp facility is one of GBP’s six Atlantic coastal, full-service, two-step distribution operations, which run from Cordele, Georgia to Waterville, Maine,” said Regional Vice President Jim Becker. “We are happy to bring additional jobs to the Belcamp area and to be part of the Greater Baltimore business community.”

The new facility comes as a result of an extensive geographic market review and real estate realignment project whereby Guardian Building Products surveyed its customers and aligned its facilities to match customer needs.

"We are selecting facilities capable of supporting our growth strategy and vision of being the industry's leading two-step distributor of roofing and exterior building products," said President and CEO Tom Highley.

“The new facility allows us to capitalize on new local opportunities and create value for our current customers, because of our new location, optimized facility setup and expansive depth and breadth of product availability,” said Belcamp Branch Manager Chris Wolfe. “Our new delivery schedule will enable us to reach customers at least two times a week.”

As of January 4, all incoming and outgoing deliveries and customer pickups are being handled at the new Belcamp facility.
